How to read the whalesstart here →

  1. A whale is an entity, not an address. Balances are summed over wallet clusters; exchanges are excluded as custody.
  2. A floor is not a measurement. Capped clusters show a lower bound, and the row says so right where the number is.
  3. The 24h move sits next to its base. A change is printed only beside the number it was computed from.
DESK — WHALE WATCH

Whale watch

The most notable identified wallets in crypto: exchange custody, ETFs and treasury companies, funds and market makers, individuals, and sanctioned actors, ranked by live on-chain holdings with a desk read on each. Real on-chain attribution, refreshed daily. Exchange balances are customer custody, not the venue's own bet; we say so on every profile.

How to read a row → #1 · Binance · Exchange (custody) · $184.70B · USDT: Binance tops the board by total on-chain value. Read Holdings as size, 24h as today's drift; for an exchange row remember the balance is customer custody, not the venue's own bet.

What the desk reads here

Ranked by 24h change in mapped on-chain value. Exchange rows are customer custody, so their size moves are flow and not the venue's own bet. That is why the unusual-move line excludes them. One day of movement is an observation; it becomes a trigger only alongside price and funding.

Source: balances read directly from public chain RPCs (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BSC, Tron and 7 more); USD priced via DeFiLlama. Entity-to-address attribution frozen 26 Jul 2026. Updated 23 Aug 2026.

How this is built

Balances come from aggregated on-chain entity data: every wallet on-chain attribution assigns to a named entity, summed across chains and priced live. This list is curated named wallets across categories: exchange custody, ETFs and treasury companies, funds and market makers, individuals, and sanctioned actors. Exchange balances are overwhelmingly customer custody, not the venue's own directional bet, each profile says so. Figures are USD and move with price; cross-checked against Etherscan V2 (EVM) and Helius (Solana). Attribution is on-chain and can be imperfect. For a raw ranked list, see the Top-100 leaderboard.

FAQ

Who is the biggest crypto whale?
By identified on-chain holdings the largest cluster is Binance at $184.70B — but exchange balances like this are customer custody, not the venue's own position. Among genuine owned stacks, BlackRock's spot-ETF custody and Strategy (MicroStrategy) lead; among individuals, Justin Sun.
Are exchange wallets really the exchange's money?
No. An exchange's cold and hot wallets overwhelmingly hold customer deposits — the venue is a custodian, not the owner. We include them because their reserves and net flows are a real market trigger, but every exchange profile flags that the balance is customer funds.
How current are the numbers?
Balances are pulled from on-chain data and refreshed daily. Dollar values move with price between refreshes; the 24h figure shows the change in total USD value.
